Automotive Data Services

Established in 2009 Alongside Our Sister Company Vehicle Data Services

About Us - Industry Issue

Since the initial creation of the motor vehicle, manufacturers and component providers have come and gone, amalgamated and grown, all contributing to the constant development of vehicles, which have become more complex and sophisticated with ever increasing features.

Automotive Data Services has brought together a number of industry experts, each with vast knowledge and experience in compiling and providing automotive data services, to create the companies database.

Our databases have been created as the catalyst to allow the association and full utilisation of the vast amount of disparate information and data that is available within the industry, irrespective of sector. A structured, in-depth and comprehensive global vehicle coding structure "v:spec" is at the core of the system, and due to its depth the "v:spec" code can accurately define and describe vehicles by utilising its numerous elements in the naming and construction of technical specifications. In many cases more than one code can relate to a single item adding further to the data mass and complexity.

Automotive Data Services, with their Auto Oracle Database incorporating the in-depth V-Spec Code have created the Catalyst to overcome these previous shortfalls and restrictions, including cost

This methodology when viewed on an individual basis of a given item and manufacturer made good sense. However, since the introduction of information technology, numerous short falls have been highlighted regarding the methodology and the efficiency that should be gained through electronic data integration and transfer has been limited, if not excluded, due to the complexity, accuracy and associated costs of linking the required data i.e. the numerous codes and their individual structures.

UK vehicles presently covered by the "v:spec" code include Motorcycles, Cars and LCVs, with all data being derived from manufacturers and importers operating within the UK. The core data includes manufacturers, models, derivatives, technical specifications, colours, trims, standard features, optional equipment and images.
